These Terms & Conditions govern the use of this website and all bookings made for SwartRivierKamp. By making a booking, paying a deposit, or entering the property, you agree to be bound by these terms.
Algemeen
SwartRivierKamp is a private, off-grid campsite located on a farm between Bot River and Caledon in the Theewaterskloof area, Western Cape, South Africa. The campsite is intended for peaceful recreational camping and is suitable for tents, campers and caravans, subject to the rules of each site. The campsite is basic in nature and does not offer electricity, WiFi nor showers. Guests are expected to understand and accept the nature of an off-grid campsite before booking.
Booking & Payment
All bookings are processed through the website booking system. A booking is only confirmed once the required payment has been received and the reservation has been accepted. Seasonal rates apply, including weekday and weekend rates. Guests are responsible for ensuring that all booking details are correct before confirming payment. Plekbesetting
Each campsite booking accommodates a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of ten (10) persons per site, inclusive of children, with no more than six (6) children per booking, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The booking is for the specific campsite selected and may not be transferred to another site without prior written approval. The person making the booking is responsible for all guests included in the reservation.
Terreinfasiliteite
Each campsite includes the facilities listed on the website and in the booking description. These include a braai / firepit, pit toilet with sand bucket, fresh water for cooking and cleaning, secure gate access and parking. Firewood is available for purchase per bag where stated. Guests acknowledge that the campsite is basic and that facilities are limited to what is described on the website.
Inland Farm Sites

This site includes a rustic farm cabin and camping space inside and around the cabin area. Guests using The Cabin are responsible for the cabin structure, built-in fittings and surrounding campsite area. Any damage caused by misuse, negligence or failure to follow campsite rules will be for the guest’s account. For more information please refer to our Vrywaring en Aanspreeklikheid.
Riverside Sites
Rivierbedding Kampeerterrein
This site is located beside the Swartrivier. Guests must respect the river environment and take care not to damage the banks, vegetation or surrounding natural area. For more information please refer to our Vrywaring en Aanspreeklikheid.
Access & Security
Access to the campsite is controlled by a security gate and lock; access instructions will be provided prior to arrival. CCTV cameras are used at the main entrance gate and selected access points for security and farm management purposes. Guests must not tamper with, damage or obstruct any security equipment. Guests must respect neighbouring properties and use all shared private dirt roads responsibly, keeping speeds low, noise to a minimum, and access clear for other landowners, residents, and farm operations.”
Firewood & Fires
Fires are only permitted in designated braai / firepit area. Guests may not cut, remove, collect or burn any farm vegetation, trees or branches found on the property. Firewood may only be used if supplied by SwartRivierKamp or purchased from approved sources for long stay guests. Guests must take all reasonable precautions when using fire and must never leave fires unattended. Fire bans or restrictions may be imposed at any time due to weather or safety conditions, and all guests must comply immediately. Swimming & River Use
Guests swim, paddle, fish or use the river at their own risk. SwartRivierKamp, its owners, staff, and agents accept no liability for injury, illness, drowning or death arising from river activities, regardless of cause, including currents, water depth, submerged hazards, flash floods, or wildlife. Children must be supervised by parents or guardians at all times as there are no lifeguards on duty. Life jackets recommended for non-swimmers; no provision of equipment. Obey signage and weather warnings; do not enter during heavy rain, high winds or low visibility. No diving, jumping from rocks or trees, and no boating or kayaking without prior permission. Conduct & Quiet Enjoyment
SwartRivierKamp is intended as a peaceful campsite for guests seeking privacy and quiet recreation. Guests must behave respectfully at all times and must not create excessive noise, cause nuisance or disturb other guests, farm occupants, staff, animals or neighbours. We reserve the right to refuse entry, cancel a booking or ask any guest to leave without refund, if behaviour is disruptive, unsafe, abusive or in breach of these terms.
Children & Supervision
Children over 12 years old are welcome only when supervised by a responsible adult at all times. This is especially important near the river, fire areas, gates and any natural hazards on the property. Parents and guardians remain fully responsible for the conduct, safety and supervision of children in their care.
Kampterrein Troeteldierebeleid
Well-behaved and trained dogs are permitted provided they remain under owner control at all times. All pets must be safely contained, but dogs specifically must be kept on a leash unless off-lead permission is granted by management upon arrival. Such approval is strictly conditional on dogs remaining under their owner’s command at all times and never disturbing other guests, livestock, or wildlife. All dogs taken on treks around the farm must be on a leash.
Guests are fully responsible for their pets’ behaviour, continuous supervision, and waste cleanup in designated bins. Owners are liable for any damage, injury, or disturbance caused to people, property, animals or the environment. Pets must not be left unattended, including in tents or vehicles. Management reserves the right to revoke permission and require immediate departure without refund if pets cause issues. Any breach of this policy voids guest indemnity.
Waste & Cleanliness
Guests are required to keep their campsite tidy during their stay and leave the site in a clean condition upon departure. Garage bags are provided at check-in for general waste and may either be left neatly for collection or preferably taken home for disposal. Please help protect the natural environment by disposing of litter responsibly, avoiding damage to vegetation and reporting any maintenance issues or damage as soon as possible.
Damage & Responsibility
Guests are responsible for any damage caused to the campsite, cabin, facilities, equipment, gates, fittings, furnishings or natural features by themselves, their children, their visitors and/or their pets. Any damage or loss caused by negligence, misuse, rule-breaking or reckless conduct may be charged to the guest. SwartRivierKamp may recover the reasonable cost of repair, replacement or cleaning. Pricing & VAT
All prices shown on the website are subject to change without notice before booking confirmation. Seasonal rates apply as displayed on the booking page. As SwartRivierKamp is currently under the VAT registration threshold, VAT is not charged on bookings. Should this status change in the future, website pricing will be updated accordingly.

You may use this website for lawful purposes only. You must not attempt to interfere with the website, booking system, or security of the site. Any misuse of the website or booking system may result in refusal of service or cancellation of a booking. Please refer to our Privaatheidsbeleid.
Toepasselike Wet
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or from a booking at SwartRivierKamp shall be handled under South African law.
