Explore on foot with a relaxed walk or a brisk run through the natural landscape. Our bush tracks offer an easy way to take in the scenic views and enjoy the quiet, authentic rhythm of the countryside.
Cool off with a refreshing swim in the Swartrivier and enjoy the calm, natural setting. Whether you are jumping in with a splash or drifting in the water, it is a perfect way to unwind on warm sunny days.
Spotted around the farm, our birdlife includes guinea fowl, African hoopoes and pied kingfishers. It is a true paradise for bird watchers to enjoy the seasonal bush and various local water bird species.
The open terrain is well-suited to mountain biking, offering plenty of space to explore at your own pace while taking in the beautiful natural surroundings and the scenic fynbos-covered hills of the area.
In the rocky areas (kransies), keep an eye out for dassies basking in the sun or klipspringer leaping nearby, as they are perfectly adapted to the rugged terrain and blend effortlessly into the landscape.
Cast a line into the Swartrivier or stroll along the bank. It is the perfect way to slow down and relax; simply bring your own tackle and enjoy the quiet, steady rhythm of the authentic farm atmosphere.
Spot cape grysboks, steenboks, baboons and cape grey mongoose across the open plains, alongside various other species that frequent the area, offering a true glimpse into the diverse wildlife of the farm.
The surrounding landscape is rich in natural fynbos, with low-growing shrubs and earthy textures unique to the region, along with seasonal blooms that bring colour and life to the farm's scenic hillsides.
Campsite Pet Policy
We welcome well-behaved, trained dogs to the farm. While pets must be contained and dogs leashed, off-lead stays may be permitted with management approval upon arrival. This is subject to dogs remaining under their owner’s command to ensure a safe experience. Please refer to our Campsite Pets Policy for full details.
Nearby Supplies & Amenities
Dassiesfontein Farmstall
It is a 35 to 40-minute walk from the gate (or a 5 to 10‑minute drive). This is the best spot to grab essentials like milk and bread, have a sit-down lunch, or browse through their collection of local trinkets. They are open every day of the week from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Local Food & Supplies
The nearby towns of Bot River and Caledon have everything you need for a longer stay, including grocery stores, fuel stations and farmstalls. You can find the Fiore Mini Market in Bot River, while Caledon has larger supermarkets like SPAR and Pick n Pay if you need to do a full shop.
Caledon Laundry Services
If you need to do laundry during your trip, there are two main options located in Caledon. You can use Fast N Fresh, 1 Haw Street (071 926 0723) for full-service washing or Die Wasklip (Wash Zone), 53 Meul Street (072 305 4679), which has standard laundromat facilities.
Regional Travel Notes
The Overberg area is full of farmstalls, making it easy to pick up fresh produce or snacks on your way here. If you are coming from the N2, there are plenty of well-known spots where you can stop for coffee, baked goods and picnic supplies before you reach the farm.
